What are the dates for each quarter?
Fall Quarter: Aug 31st through December 18th, 2009
Winter Quarter: January 4th through March 5th, 2010
Spring Quarter: March 15 through June 11th, 2010

If I sign my daughter up after a quarter begins, is my fee pro-rated?
No, it is a flat fee for each quarter, no matter when you register or how many days per week your daughter attends. The quarterly flat fee is $150 for girls who attend walking schools (Franklin, Haight, Lum and Washington) and $125 for non-walking schools.

Do you offer Scholarships?
Yes. If you are in need of financial assistance, please write a letter to our Program Director Tristen Fredrickson stating the reason for the request and bring it with you at the time of registration.

Does my daughter have to be enrolled in a public school to attend Girls Inc.?
No, we serve all girls, whether they are in public, private or home schools.

Is it OK if my daughter doesn’t attend every day?
Yes. Our classes are structured so that if she comes on the same day each week, she will get the most out of our programs. She does not have to attend every day. Check out our schedule for classes offered on each day.

Is Girls Inc. open for early release days?
Usually. If the day in question is an AUSD district-wide early release day, we will open when school lets out. Please call to us to verify whether we will open early and at what time.

Is Girls Inc. open for AUSD non-student days and holiday breaks?
No. Girls Inc. is closed when the AUSD is closed to children. However, for many of the days, Alameda Island Kids is open to any girl in 1st through 5th grade who is currently enrolled with the AUSD for $45 per day as long as space is available.

My daughter is 5 years old. Can she be part of your program?
Once she has completed Kindergarten and turns 6 she can enroll in Girls Inc. Alameda Island Kids offers after school care at seven school sites that serve kindergarteners.

Do you provide transportation?
Starting in fall 2008, we will provide walking transportation from Franklin, Haight, Lum and Washington Elementary Schools. Girls Inc. staff will meet the girls at the school and walk them over to our program at 1724 Santa Clara Ave.
