FUND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
reporting to the Executive Director

ORGANIZATION
Girls Inc of the Island City (GIIC), located in the City of Alameda, is an affiliate of the national Girls Incorporated, the nation’s leading expert on issues affecting girls and young women. Serving the community for 45 years, GIIC provides critical programs that inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and boldsm.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Fund Development Director is responsible for managing all aspect of the affiliate’s fund development plan including major gifts from individuals, foundations and corporations; annual giving from all sources; cultivation and stewardship; grant writing; fundraising initiatives and related special events; and, overseeing research, data entry, gift processing and acknowledgements.

Serving as a senior member of the GIIC management team, this position is responsible for helping to shape and lead the successful implementation of the affiliate’s strategic plan.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fund development plan
  • Set and monitor annual fund development goals and budget
  • Communicate the GIIC vision, mission, and values to current and future supporters
  • Monitor and reconcile revenue and expenses documents
  • Participate in the creation of the GIIC annual budget and communications plan
  • Supervise the Fund Development Assistant

Fund Development

  • Identify, cultivate and steward leadership and major gifts from all sources
  • Support the Executive Director’s major gift work
  • Build and lead a major gifts committee
  • Manage all aspects of the individual annual appeal campaign and fundraising events
  • Oversee plan for managing prospect and donor information, records and contributions
  • Determine and oversee methods for acknowledging gifts and oversee the planning of donor appreciation events
  • Research, write, secure and track grants; produce reports for funding agencies and auditors
  • Create fund development reports and conduct related analysis for the Executive Director
  • Provide expertise and staff support to Board, volunteers, relevant committees and Executive Director in support of development activities

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Articulated belief in the mission of Girl Inc.
  • BA and three to five years of fund development and management experience
  • Supervisory skills and experience
  • Demonstrated success creating, managing and implementing fund development plans and strategies including grant writing, donor campaigns and gift pursuit
  • Experience in developing fund development and organizational budgets
  • Demonstrated success in supervising others and working with volunteers, particularly Board of Directors
  • Well-honed organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, public relations and oral/written communication skills
  • Strong computer literacy with Windows (MS Office Word), Quick Books Nonprofit Edition; and Excel

Compensation: $55,000-65,000, D.O.E.

Benefits: Medical, dental, vision; vacation, sick and holiday pay; retirement

Work Status: Full time position, ability to work some nights and weekends
