| ABOUT THE CLUB |
|
The Women of the 21st Century Club is a membership group for women who come together to raise money for and awareness about Girls Incorporated of the Island City in Alameda. Club members serve as ambassadors to the community for girls’ issues and for Girls Inc., educate their network of women and men leaders, and attract additional like-minded members to the Women of the 21st Century Club. They also raise money to support Girls Inc. programs through membership dues, donations, outside benefit events, and ticket sales and corporate sponsorships of Club Speaker Events. | MEMBERSHIP |
|
Club membership comes with many benefits:
- Members get the opportunity to interact with like-minded women and discuss and affect issues that are important to them.
- Members are invited to all Club events.
- Members have the opportunity to take part in special “Ambassador Training.”
- Members are invited to participate in special Girls Inc. programs, such as the Girls Take Charge Summit and the Courageous Women Program.

| FUNDRAISING |

In addition to paying Club membership dues, Club members financially support Girls Incorporated of the Island City through numerous activities, including:

| SPEAKER EVENTS |
|
Members of the Club, as well as non-members, come together several times a year to attend Speaker Events, where they will meet the staff and girl members; learn about their programs and successes; hear guest speakers; and discuss ways we can work together to solve the problems facing girls and women today and in the future. Topics for events include:
Tickets for Speaker Events are $10 at the door. This covers refreshment costs so that all Club membership fees can go directly to fund our programs. Members are encouraged to bring guests who are committed to women and girls and may be interested in helping the Women of the 21st Century Club support Girls Inc. | AUTHOR EVENTS |

Members of the Club partner with Books Inc. to host Meet-the-Author Fundraising Events throughout the year to raise money for Girls Inc. and meet women authors. Authors have included:

| OUTSIDE BENEFIT EVENTS |
|
Club members also organize other creative outside benefit events to support Girls Inc. of the Island City. These events could be small house or garden parties, chocolate or wine tasting parties, handbag or Tupperware parties, golf or hiking parties, or any other create endeavor where people can come together, learn a little about Girls Inc., and spend money or make donations to support our programs.

Club Members also come together several times a year to socialize with each other at special, “Members-Only” events. These include:

- September 2007 – Members Only Party
- September 2006 - Wine & Cheese Party

| AMBASSADOR PROGRAM |
|
Club members have the opportunity to serve as ambassadors for Girls Incorporated of the Island City, representing the organization at community events or speaking before groups about Girls Inc. or the Club. In order to prepare to serve as an ambassador, Club members are invited to participate in FREE Ambassador Training from Club Steering Committee Member Judy Grant, an expert in helping executives and media talent develop communication skills to reach various constituencies.
